I provide tuition to adults and children over the age of 7 years who are either complete beginners or more experienced players looking to learn new skills or extend their repertoire. The emphasis is on playing for pleasure and I encourage students to sing as they’re playing although this is not compulsory! I don’t use a prescribed course as I prefer to tailor my lessons to the student’s ability and musical tastes. All teaching materials will be provided. This will include sheet music and, on occasions, recordings of songs for students to practise playing along to. These can be downloaded here.
Where do lessons take place?
Lessons are at my home in Balby, Doncaster although for an extra fee, I am willing to travel up to 10 miles from my home address to teach in a student’s home.
At present all lessons are taking place online via Zoom. I am happy to talk you through setting up Zoom and arrange a short meeting online to test it with you.
What is your availability?
I’m almost fully booked at the moment but slots do become available from time to time. Contact me to check.
What commitment is required from students?
Obviously it is vital to have your own instrument. Without this, progress will be very slow as practising between lessons is vital.
I do however have a number of ukuleles so I can provide you with an instrument for a ‘taster’ session. However if you wish to then continue with lessons, you will be expected to purchase your own instrument.
I am happy to advise you on buying a suitable instrument.
I expect students to attend lessons regularly, ideally weekly. I cannot guarantee to hold a slot open for students who do not attend regularly.
How much do lessons cost?
Lessons can be booked for 30 or 60 minutes. The charges are £12.00 for 30 minutes and £22.50 for 60 minutes. This is for lessons at my home. I am willing to travel to an address within a 10 mile radius of my home for an additional fee of £5.
I recommend that lessons for children or adult beginners are 30 minutes long in the first instance.
Lessons may be paid for on a pay-as-you-go basis or as a block booking. Payment for online lessons can be made by bank transfer or Paypal.

If you can give me some information about the styles of music you would like to learn then I can tailor the lessons to your tastes.
