Tickhill Ukulele Group meets on Monday evenings from 7pm to 8pm at the Parish Rooms, Tickhill, Doncaster, DN11 9HZ. The group has grown rapidly since we started in November 2014 and we now regularly have well over 30 people attending.
It's open to all ages and abilities, including complete beginners. We're a friendly group and there's always someone willing to show you the ropes. The aim is to get everyone playing and singing a wide variety of songs. I'll provide the tabs and words and all the resources we use are available to download. There's always a pot of tea too....
Don't worry if you don't have your own ukulele. You can borrow one of ours to start with. I'm very happy to give advice on buying your own instrument as well as tuning and maintaining it.
The cost of each session is £3 for adults and £2 for children. (Children must be accompanied by an adult.)
Recently we've been learning "You're The One That I Want' from Grease, Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah', "When I'm 64' by the Beatles, 'We Are The Champions' by Queen, 'Everybody Needs Somebody' from The Blues Brothers and a number of other songs, old and new. If there are songs you'd particularly like to learn, I'm always open to suggestions. We have performed at a number of events in Tickhill, including the Tour de Yorkshire, the Tickhill Gala, Tickhill 40s Day and at St. Mary's Church as part of T-Fest.
Christmas Concert 2018
We held our Christmas Concert on Monday 17th December at the Tickhill Tavern.
The group's first set was non-Christmas songs. Individuals and small groups then had the pportunity to perform. Finally the group played a set of Christmas songs.
